History

Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) is a glycoprotein hormone produced in pregnancy by the developing embryo after conception. Its role during pregnancy is to prevent the disintegration of the ovary and thereby maintain progesterone production. When the fertilized egg attaches to the uterus the levels of hCG inside the pregnant mother rises rapidly.

In 1954 Dr. A.T.W. Simeons, a British physician published his acclaimed report extolling the benefits of the hCG hormone as the miracle treatment for obesity. Dr. Simeons’ found that HCG assisted his patients with significantly reducing their caloric intake without the hunger pains, headaches, weakness and irritability side-effects that were commonly associated with consuming less calories.

The tendency to accumulate abnormal fat was diagnosed by Dr. Simeons as “a very definite metabolic disorder, much as is, for instance, diabetes.” He was profoundly concerned with the fundamental problems of the obesity disorder, its causes and its symptoms. For forty years, while evaluating every theory and method, and thousands of patients, Dr. Simeons was bent on discovering the treatment that would cure the disorder equally effectively for both sexes, at all ages and in all forms of obesity.

His research led him to human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a substance that occurs among women during pregnancy. Overweight patients that were given small daily doses seemed to lose their insatiable appetites and would notice a distinct decrease in the circumference of their hips.*

Simeons concluded that the change in shape resulted from a movement of fat away from normal deposits in the hips and become available to the body as fuel.  So an overweight person on a restricted diet would no longer succumb to hunger pangs while experiencing significant weight loss.

Whether you are on the three week (20 days) program, or the 6 week (40 days) program, the hCG Institute protocol calls for one (1) injection of hCG once per day during the duration of your treatment. In addition to the daily injections, you will be placed on a strict 500 calorie diet using the recipes and dieting tips provided in the informational packet.

Administer injections with the pre-drawn syringe at the same time of every day in 24 hour intervals, preferably in the morning.

The common injection sites are: back of the upper arms, thighs and the outer-upper quadrant of the buttocks.

    • * Wash your Hands
    • * Clean the area with an alcohol swab
    • * Gently pinch the skin and insert the needle perpendicular to the skin
    • * Inject the medication

It is not abnormal to see a small amount of bleeding at the injection site. Apply direct pressure to the site to stop the bleeding and prevent bruising. Slight swelling, redness, burning or itching is not uncommon and will subside shortly. To ease discomfort it is recommended to rotate injection sites.

Menstruating females are advised to start the treatment on the first day after menstruation.

It is not uncommon for your weight loss to plateau during the second half of a full six week program. Patients who are averaging one pound a day or more in weight loss will typically experience interruptions in their progress during this period. These typically last 4-6 days and will always correct itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

What medical conditions exclude someone from using hCG for weight loss?

Patients who currently have or previously had a history of treatment with nitrates for a heart condition, cancer, diabetes, stroke or pulmonary embolism will not qualify to use hCG for weight loss.

How is the hCG diet different than other forms of dieting?

The hCG Injections or Sublingual Drops diet is a medically supervised protocol designed to assist in weight loss. Other forms of dieting involve eating right and exercising to achieve results but after you stop dieting you gain the weight back. With hCG you won’t need to exercise and you won’t gain the weight back.

Where most diets blame the patient for poor eating habits and lack of discipline, at the hCG Institute we follow the protocols set forth by Dr. Simeons. Obesity is difficult and many people struggle because it is hereditary and hormonal. Dr. Simeons treatment is designed to restore your body’s natural processes to help you combat the disease and return to your healthy natural form.

How does the hCG protocol at the hCG Institute differ from other programs?

As hCG gains in popularity around the United States, it is becoming increasingly important to determine the amount of hCG in IU’s that you will be receiving. At the hCG Institute our team of physicians have determined to prescribe the optimal amount so that our patients may experience safe and healthy weight loss. Other programs prescribe a low calorie diet with less hCG IU’s . These fewer amounts of medication don’t always help you achieve your weight loss goals.

The hCG Institute administers the most efficient blend of hCG and dieting to achieve the healthiest and safest results. It is extremely important to speak with your doctor about the amount of hCG you will be injecting and the effects of the low calorie diet on your everyday life.

What are some other benefits of using the hCG Protocol?

hCG is great because it turns your bodies stored fat into energy. In addition to feeling more energized while eating less, using hCG will result in lowered cholesterol, speeding up the metabolism and resetting your appetite.

Is it true that exercising is not a part of the hCG Protocol?

It is true!

The hCG protocol requires daily injections or sublingual drops of hCG and following a strict low calorie diet. Exercise is not recommended because the low calorie diet is not meant to support the energy requirements of regular exercise. If you want to exercise we recommend light cardio, yoga or pilates.

HCG is not recognized by the Food and Drug Administration as a weight loss treatment. Is it safe?

HCG has long been approved by the FDA to treat various medical conditions including certain problems with the male reproductive system. HCG is safe to use, however the FDA has not approved the hormone for use in medical weight loss at this time.

How can I be certain that hCG is safe?

During pregnancy hCG is produced daily in quantities hundreds of thousands of times greater than the amounts used in medical weight loss treatments. It does not harm the fetus or the mother.

The hCG Institute only prescribes medically supervised hCG treatments. A physician will determine if anything in your medical history or blood results precludes you from the hCG protocol.

Can I still wear makeup? Use deodorant? Lotion? Shampoo? Conditioner? Or color my hair? What about Tanning?

Some hCG information sites will warn you to avoid wearing makeup, or lotion and provide alternatives to deodorant and shampoo’s. These precautions have been deemed unnecessary by Dr. Lee and the medical staff at the hCG Institute because the change in the treatments effectiveness is negligible or fractional at best.

Does the hCG Institute use Homeopathic hCG?

No.

Only naturally occurring  hCG can be used to effectively lose weight and this hormone must be prescribed by a physician and compounded at a compounding pharmacy. Furthermore, injecting the hCG into the muscle tissue is the preferred method of administration.

Homeopathic hCG is often purchased on the second-hand market. It is herbal with little to no effect at all.  It is not compounded at a pharmacy and is not supervised by a physician. For these reasons, Homeopathic hCG is medically unsafe, buy at your own risk.

The hCG Institute does not recommend using hormone therapy for weight loss without medical supervision.
