Warnings and Precautions
– Transient blood pressure and heart rate changes: PT-141 has been associated with transient increases in blood pressure and decreases in heart rate following administration. These effects are typically short-lived but may be significant in patients with underlying cardiovascular conditions. Blood pressure should be monitored, and patients should not use PT-141 if they have uncontrolled hypertension or significant cardiovascular disease.
– Hyperpigmentation: Melanocortin receptor stimulation may cause focal hyperpigmentation of the face, gums, or breasts, particularly with repeated use. This effect may not be fully reversible. Discuss this risk with your provider.
– Nausea: Nausea is the most commonly reported side effect and may be significant. It is typically transient but can be dose-dependent.
– Drug interactions: PT-141 may interact with medications that affect cardiovascular function or blood pressure. Disclose all current medications to your prescribing provider.
– Use with other sexual dysfunction treatments: The safety of combining PT-141 with phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (such as those used for ED) has not been fully established. Discuss any combination use with your provider.
Patients should inform their healthcare provider of all medical conditions, medications, and supplements before receiving this compounded formulation.
